Institute of Scientific Instruments of the CAS, Brno, Czech Republic, EU

Position: leader of the Microscopy for Materials Science group at the Institute of Scientific Instruments of the CAS

Specialization: Application and further development of scanning electron microscopy techniques for structural classification of advanced steels

At the METAL´23 conference Dr. Šárka Mikmeková will present the invited lecture in Session C.

Professional background:
Šárka Mikmeková is a leader of the Microscopy for Materials Science group at the Institute of Scientific Instruments of the Czech Academy of Sciences. After completing her PhD at the Brno University of Technology, she moved to Japan, where worked at Japan’s steel giant JFE Steel Corporation (Kawasaki, Japan) for more than 5 years. Her main research interest consists of the application and further development of scanning electron microscopy techniques for structural clasifications of advanced steels (outputs: publications, patents). In 2021 she received the Lumina Quaeruntur fellowship established by the Academy Council of the Czech Academy of Sciences entitled “Laboratory of advanced steels microstructural classification by artificial intelligence methods”.

Education:
Dr. Mikmeková received her Master’s degrees from the Brno University of Technology (Materials Science and Engineering, 2009) + Masaryk University (Physics of condensed matter, 2012), both Brno (CZE) and PhD (2013) from the Brno University of Technology (CZE). During her PhD study, she spent several long- and short-term stays at Toyama University in Japan. Her Ph.D. thesis dealt with the Aplication of the low energy electron microscopy in materials sciences.

Award:
2021 - Metallography award of the Japan Institute of Metals and Materials (入射電子エネルギー1eVでのSEM観察による複相鋼組織の分離可視化 = visualization of the phases in TRIP steel by SEM at 1eV landing energy)
