Position: Surface Treatment Specialist at Research and Testing Institute Plzen Ltd.

Specialization: thermal spraying – focus on Cold Spray technology; surface treatments; corrosion.


At the METAL´23 conference Dr. Ondřej Chocholatý will present the invited lecture in Session D: Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing.


Education:
Dr. Chocholaty received his Master’s degree (2001) from the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (CZE) and PhD (2012) from the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (CZE). His PhD thesis dealt with the Properties, testing and development of composite chromium coatings for piston rings.


Professional background:
Dr. Chocholatý started his professional career as Production Supervisor (2001-2002) and Logistics Specialist (2002-2004) at Valeo Žebrák s.r.o. In 2004-2005 he was Head of the Surface Treatment Department and in 2005-2012 he worked as a Surface Treatment Development Specialist at Buzuluk a.s. In 2009-2010, he also worked partly at the University of West Bohemia, where he was a full-time member of the Department of Material Science and Technology from 2013 to 2021. In 2013, Dr. Chocholatý completed a postdoctoral fellowship at an Institut de la Corrosion (Brest, France). From 2021 until now, he has been Deputy Head of Thermal Spraying Department at Research and Testing Institute Pilsen.

Dr. Chocholaty is the editor of the Journal of the Association of Czech and Slovak Corrosion Engineers - KOM - Corrosion and Material Protection Journal.
